Ashes and Renewal
Moments of Reflection | City of Detroit
The Ash Wednesday campaign was created to capture a quieter side of the city through a moment centered on reflection, tradition, and stillness. The goal was to acknowledge an important day for many Detroit residents while creating content that felt honest, respectful, and human.

As Creative Director and Editor, I developed a social video reel that focused less on explanation and more on atmosphere. Through intentional pacing, subtle visuals, and natural moments of worship, the piece aimed to capture the emotional weight and calmness that defined the day across the city.
The project leaned into simplicity and restraint, allowing the visuals and emotion to speak for themselves rather than relying on heavy narration or fast paced editing.
The content generated more than 22K views, showing how quieter forms of storytelling can still create meaningful audience connection and engagement.
